Nifty FMCG, Metal indices up; ITC hits 52-week high

The most active stocks include Reliance Industries, Yes Bank, JSW Steel, Tata Steel, and Reliance Infra.

Equity benchmark indices were trading in the negative territory ahead of the expiry of monthly derivative contracts. The Nifty 50 was down 23 points at 11,669, while the Sensex was down 56 points at 38,666.

Banking stocks slipped for second straight day, with the Bank Nifty were trading lower by 0.53%. RBL Bank stock dropped 2% followed by IndusInd Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Yes Bank and Axis Bank.

Nifty Energy is down by a percent dragged by HPCL, India Oil Corporation and Reliance Industries which are down over 1% respectively.

Nifty IT index was slightly trading lower at 15,497. Tech Mahindra, Infibeam and HCL tech were down by 1% each.

However, shares of Mindtree, Tata Elxsi, KPIT Technologies and Oracle Financial Services Software were in the green.

On the flip side, Nifty FMCG index gained 0.85% at 276.50. United Spirits, UBL stock gained nearly 2%, while ITC stock hit 52-week high in today’s trade. Emami, GSK Consumer, Marico, and Dabur were other top gainers.

Nifty Metal index rose 1.4% in today’s session, and it is top sectoral gainer on the Nifty 50. Hindustan Copper stock zoomed ~5%, Jindal Steel, Tata Steel and SAIL were up in the range of 2-4%.
